I created Stepping Stones Home Care to fill a need for seniors that are looking to remain independent but also need some level of care and help. My own father is a 90-year-old stubborn Italian that was living independently until one day took a serious fall. After several weeks of hospitalizations and senior home care facilities, it was time to start thinking about our next step. His life had dramatically changed overnight and he was very adamant about wanting to remain at home. We spoke to and interviewed MANY senior home care companies! They all seemed reasonably good, but I still felt like something was missing and was still not sold on the idea of leaving my dad home alone with a stranger.

Seeing your parent or loved one getting older and dealing with a health crisis can be a VERY difficult and emotional process. My two siblings and I were absolutely overwhelmed with what to do next and none of our options felt right. One day I made a list of everything we wanted and needed in order to feel comfortable and confident (and let’s be honest; not incredibly guilty) about leaving my dad with someone to care for him at home. Sadly, for one reason or another, every home care business we talked to fell short in one way or the other. Feeling absolutely defeated by the entire process, I decided to take a leave from work to care for him myself (not an easy task, by the way). Knowing this could only be a temporary situation, I made it my mission to seek out his ‘perfect person’. Through all the ups and downs, trials and tribulations, I learned A LOT and I turned that mission into a passion for helping others going through the same or similar situations.

I promised myself that I would take my knowledge, experience, and newfound passion and find a way to share it with others to help them on their own journey. Each idea I had was like a little stepping stone waiting to be overturned and each one lead me to another until one day, Stepping Stones Home Care came to be. It was clear to me what I needed to do and how I needed to help other families struggling with the same kinds of things my family and I were. I created Stepping Stones Home Care to be different, REALLY different. My greatest desire is to make each client feel special and like the only client, we serve! I wanted to create something that made our clients feel ‘first class’ and look forward to each and every visit! I pride myself on serving others and want our clients and seniors to always feel like they are getting the highest level of care! I recruit only the BEST caretakers who genuinely care about the client and want to make a difference at this critical time in their lives.

We start by hiring ONLY the most qualified, compassionate, caring people and put them through an extensive training program. Only when we have observed them, and are 100% confident in their abilities, do we allow them to go into the field. From there, our focus is on creating a customized plan for each client that is based on compassion, safety, brain stimulation, and some fun! It is absolutely critical and necessary for our families to have peace of mind in knowing that their loved ones are getting the quality care that they deserve!
